This is the most delightful (and delicious) all-purpose caramel sauce. I have discovered that there is almost nothing that caramel sauce doesn’t taste good on.
I love this super simple recipe, using simple nourishing ingredients so that you never need to feel left out from the deliciousness that is called caramel sauce.
Some of our favorite ways to eat this caramel sauce are on fluffy pancakes, crepes, or waffles, with apple slices, or a drizzle on our chia seed pudding – okay who am I kidding, we sometimes eat it by the spoonful.
Happy eating!
Simple Caramel Sauce
Super simple and easy caramel sauce that uses simple nourishing ingredients.
- 1 cup full fat coconut milk
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 1 tbsp vanilla bean ghee
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp celtic sea salt
- ½ vanilla bean, seeds scraped
-
Gently combine all the ingredients in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a bowl over medium heat. Pay careful attention, as the mixture can boil over rather quickly. If this happens simply remove the pan from the heat for a moment.
-
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 30-35 minutes until the caramel begins to thicken. For a thicker caramel simmer longer.
-
Remove the saucepan from the heat, and let cool for 15 minutes. Serve.
-
Transfer the caramel sauce to a glass jar with an airtight lid, and store it in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks.
