We are about to hit the road for a little road-tripping to the beach and then to the lake with Nate’s family. I thought sharing some of my favorite healthy summer road trip essentials would be fun to make 9+ hours in the car more fun and enjoyable.

My favorite healthy summer road trip essentials

1. Canvas Bag

No longer available, but the link will take you to the website to browse other goodies.
I always love taking my canvas bag with me because you can add everything quickly, and they are resilient when traveling. Also, I love that they are super durable for beach and pool days.

2. Hu Cashew Covered Chocolate Hunks

I love splurging on treats when we travel, but at the same time, it is important to me that my splurge still make me feel well. These little chocolate-covered cashews are deliciously addictive, and the ingredients are beautifully clean.

3. On Guard Sanitizing Mist

I don’t support using conventional hand sanitizer as it is packed full of endocrine-disrupting ingredients, never mind that it leaves your hands dried out and potentially cracked. However, I love having this hand sanitizing mist on hand as studies have shown it kills 99.9% of bacteria without all the adverse side effects. The infusion of natural apple extract gives this formula moisturizing properties, and the lovely blend of essential oils gives it the best aroma.

4. Dang Coconut Chips

I love these little coconut chips because they are slightly sweet and crunchy. This a great alternative to consistently eating a lot of nut-based items.

5. Hydro Flask Water Bottle

Hydration is essential when traveling. I love having my stainless steel water bottle with me to keep me on my way to meeting my daily water intake goals.

6. Charged Phone

A fully charged phone with all your favorite podcasts, music, and audiobooks is a must. I don’t listen to Dr. Hyman anymore. Still, some of my favorite podcasts include – Deliciously EllaMito Life Radio, and Organic Olivia.

7. Beautycounter Sun Screen Stick

This safe sun stick is formulated with non-nano zinc and California Poppy rather than toxic ingredients like oxybenzone. Furthermore, the cocoa-butter-infused formula glides on smoothly without leaving the white ghostly-looking residue. Another great thing about this stick is that you can apply it without getting your hands dirty.

8. Brooklyn Biltong

This South African girl is all about biltong (air-dried jerky), which is one of the things I miss the most. I was so excited when I discovered this brand that it became our family’s go-to splurge for road tripping. The quality and ingredients are top-notch, and it tastes absolutely delicious.

9. Tom Ford Sunglasses

I got these sunglasses several years ago, and they are still my absolute favorite ones. Investing in a great pair of sunglasses makes you less likely to break or lose them, therefore cutting down on more purchases. I love the classic look and that they frame my face. However, sunglasses are not super beneficial for health, so I have been working on weaning off from wearing them all the time.

10. Primally Pure Lip Balm

I keep lip balm everywhere, and this is one of my favorite safer skincare items, with no junky ingredients you unknowingly ingest. This lip balm glides on smooth, and I love the hint of peppermint.

11. Hair Ties

I love having these hair ties on hand to pull my hair up into a top knot after a long day in the car. They look cute on your wrist and do a great job keeping your hair up.

12. Essential Oils

Essential oils are always a must for me when traveling, and the locations and means of travel play a role in deciding which oils to pick. I like a few oils and create different blends in my car diffuser to freshen the car.

Here are some of my favorite blend combinations:

  • ylang-ylang, orange, grapefruit
  • bergamot, peppermint
  • basil, lemon
  • lemon, grapefruit, orange
  • ylang-ylang, bergamot, orange, lemon
  • basil, peppermint, lemon

13. Vital Proteins Collagen Packs

I no longer recommend or support Vital Proteins. However, I enjoy adding minerals like Quinton Deep Sea Minerals to my water when traveling for hydration purposes.

14. Branch Basics Travel Kit

This adult, child, and environmentally safe cleaning solution is a must for everyone. I always have it on hand to remove unfortunate stains or use as foaming handwash instead of all the antibacterial soaps you find in the restrooms.

15. Car Essential Oil Diffuser

We love having an essential oil diffuser in the car. It makes the car’s atmosphere and aroma so fresh and rejuvenating. In fact, it is one of the best little finds so far.

I hope my summer road trip essentials will make your travel a little less stressful and a little more fun.

Happy travels!
