It is summertime here in West Texas, which means triple-digit temperatures on most days. Therefore, hydration is essential for health and wellness. In brief, infused water is the way to go. Also, changing out your plain water with these simple infused water recipes is the ultimate summer game-changer.

In the meantime, always remember that being adequately hydrated equals drinking half your body weight in ounces daily.

Sometimes drinking just water can be a bit boring, and some people don’t like the taste of water. While I have no problem with water’s flavor, making water infusions is a great way to make drinking water fun. In brief, infused water recipes are simple; all you need is filtered water, fruits, berries, and herbs.

In reality, all you need to do to make infused water is to add berries or chopped fruit with some herbs to a glass jar or pitcher. Then simply pop the pitcher into the fridge to chill. Another favorite thing for me is when the fruits bleed their color into the water, leaving you with a gorgeous hue in the water.

The beauty of this is there is no need to measure anything. You just throw in a handful of berries, maybe cut up an orange or grapefruit, and toss in some mint. You can then decide whether you want the fruit to float or muddle it to release more flavor.

For fun summer gatherings, you can serve a variety of infused waters along with simple honey syrup and even add some sparkling water for some bubbles. The infused water recipe possibilities are endless, so be creative.

Here are my 13 favorite flavor combinations for infused water:

  • lemon, cucumber
  • lime, grapefruit, cucumber, rosemary
  • pineapple, mint
  • lemon, lime, orange, thyme
  • blackberry, sage
  • watermelon, rosemary
  • cherry, lime
  • blueberry, lime
  • kiwi, orange
  • strawberry, basil
  • blackberry, ginger
  • pineapple, raspberry, mint
  • peach, lemon, thyme

Happy sipping!

There are no strict rules or laws regarding flavored water, but here is a basic recipe to get you started. Feel free to change up the quantities and combinations to find your favorite,

  • 1 cup fruit
  • 2 sprigs of herbs
  • 8 cups filtered water
  1. Combine all the ingredients together in a glass jar or pitcher. You can either muddle the fruit to release more of the juice for flavor or leave the fruit to float to the top. Chill in the refrigerator before drinking.
